Today more than ever before, The University and students of all backgrounds rely on those who came before them to help make their academic aspirations come true. The cost to receive one of the finest educations in the country does not come easy. At over $55,000 annually, 80% percent of our students receive financial aid packages, with 43% of them on scholarship, either need-based or merit. The reality is that many of our black scholars are often forced to drop out of college in their junior or senior year because they are unable to afford tuition and fees.
The Black Alumni Society Scholarship is funded each year by generous support from alumni, friends, and community members. The monies received for this scholarship are awarded annually to eligible student applicants. Your support of this scholarship has enabled the Black Alumni Society to make this scholarship available for more than 20+ years.
The First Black Graduate Endowed Scholarship was created in celebration of and to provide a lasting legacy to those who blazed the trail in breaking the color barrier at the University of Miami in the 1960s and ’70s. This endowed scholarship supports students who experience financial hardships and demonstrate financial needs as they pursue an undergraduate degree at the University of Miami.
Please consider investing in the future of the U today by making a gift. Your tax-deductible contribution to any of the noted scholarships will continue to enable these young people to complete their undergraduate and graduate educations, establish careers and thereby, make meaningful contributions to communities across the nation.
