That was the year when the University of Miami Board of Trustees voted to admit students regardless of race or color. Sixty-one years later, the newly installed Johnny Taylor Family/UTrailblazers Experience, which showcases those students who broke the color barrier at the U in the 1960s and ’70s, was a highlight of the Black Alumni Society’s annual Juneteenth celebration.
