Thanks to the generosity of Shriners Children's, a new endowed chair now honors Dr. Brian Grottkau, a leader in pediatric orthopedics. Dr. Grottkau was presented with the chair on April 15, thanks to a unique partnership between Shriners Children's, the University of Miami and Jackson Health System in 2021 to provide a destination for children who need complex pediatric orthopedic services. Endowed chairs are more than accolades — they are promises. Promises that the pursuit of discovery will continue, that patients will always come first, and that excellence in medicine will endure. Because of Bella
In a moving tribute to their daughter Bella, who passed away in 2017 from a rare genetic disorder, the Belanger family (left) hosted a fundraiser in Boston that raised more than $200,000. This incredible act of love and purpose supports the groundbreaking research of Pankaj Agrawal, M.D. (right, with his wife, Madhurima), chief of the Division of Neonatology at the Miller School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics and Jackson Health System. Dr. Agrawal, who first diagnosed Bella, continues to advance lifesaving research into rare diseases — offering hope, answers, and healing to families navigating similar journeys.
