A three-time alumnus of the University of Miami, Charles J. Foschini, B.B.A. ’87, M.B.A. ’88, J.D. ’97, is making sure that students have the same opportunity he was given to receive scholarship assistance for their education. A generous gift from Foschini has created the Charles J. Foschini Endowed Commercial Real Estate Scholarship.

Foschini is dedicated to supporting the University’s mission to transform lives through education, research, innovation, service and mentorship. “As a past scholarship recipient for each of my degrees, I understand the value of an education, the success it can lead to, and am inspired to grant that experience to a student at the University of Miami in perpetuity,” said Foschini. “The scholarship is also a tribute to my teachers and mentors along the way and most specifically, the love and support of my parents, who were deep believers in education, and to the sacrifice of my grandparents and immigrant great-grandparents who came before me.”

He says his gift reflects upon his path to success, and a deep appreciation of his Italian heritage and the diverse heritage of his spouse and children. It is also an expression of his love for Miami, the city he has called home since arriving as a freshman in 1983. Foschini, senior managing director for leading commercial real estate firm Berkadia, is a past adjunct professor in the School of Law and a volunteer leader serving on the University’s Citizens Board and the School of Architecture’s M-RED Real Estate Advisory Board. He remains extremely involved in University activities.

"As a triple alumnus of the University of Miami, Charles understands the transformative power of education and the importance of giving back,” said Ann M. Olazabal, interim dean of the Miami Herbert Business School. “His generous gift will not only provide much-needed financial support for students pursuing their academic dreams but also serve as a lasting tribute to his family's legacy and his deep connection to the University and the City of Miami. We are grateful for his dedication to our mission of advancing knowledge and shaping the leaders of tomorrow."

The degree programs at the Miami Herbert Business School that the scholarship will support include the Master of Business Administration and the Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

Professor of Finance Andrea Heuson has worked closely with Foschini on several business school initiatives and is grateful for his generosity toward finance students.

“Charles is the perfect alum as he is generous with his time, talent and treasure,” says Heuson, who is also Academic Director of Real Estate Programs. “He serves on the MRED+U real estate advisory board and was one of the first to join our inaugural Miami Herbert Business School Real Estate mentorship program. He has also long been a resource for internships and full-time career opportunities.”

In addition to the Miami Herbert Business School scholarships, a law student pursuing a J.D. on a Real Estate Law path and/or a graduate law student in the LL.M. in Real Property Development could qualify. A graduate student in the Master of Real Estate Development and Urbanism at the School of Architecture would also be eligible.
