’Canes Day of Service offers University of Miami alumni, students, families, and friends an opportunity to give back to their communities by participating in local service projects. These projects enable alumni to engage in meaningful volunteer experiences, directly impact their communities, impart valuable aid, and rediscover connections to their alma mater.
Join ’Canes in Charlotte as they partner with Samaritan’s Feet to serve and inspire children by providing them with shoes. ’Canes in Los Angeles can support the Bandini Foundation in their mission to serve veterans. Alumni in Atlanta will partner with Walk MS to celebrate the resiliency of the nearly one million people living with MS in the United States and raise funds to find a cure.
These are just a few of the community service events taking place across the country.
The Miami ’Canes Community invites alumni in the area to attend the flagship event for the ’Canes Day of Service Earth Day Celebration, taking place at Virginia Key on April 23. Volunteers will remove litter and trash from beaches, weed out invasive plant species, and discuss the impact of coral reef restoration with Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science researchers over lunch. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Rosenstiel School's Protecting Our Resources Fund, which supports research efforts in marine conservation that can accelerate our understanding of our natural resources and their sustainable exploitation.
