With an emphasis on innovative delivery systems and learner-centered outcomes, we set the bar for creating programs that anticipate the needs of an ever-changing market.

Whether you are upskilling, reskilling, or learning for fun, DCIE provides flexible programs that are led by University instructors and carry the weight of the University of Miami brand. From high school through retirement, alumni and their dependents can enjoy special savings on DCIE programs to stay connected to the ‘Canes community.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

A collaboration of DCIE and the University of Miami Alumni Association, MOOCs are online non-credit certificate programs focusing on subjects ranging from cybersecurity and communication literacy to plant-based nutrition and carbon storage. Each course is self-paced, lasts approximately three weeks, and includes video lectures, notes, discussion, and industry resources.

MOOCs are free to alumni - you can take as many or as few as you like. When you complete each MOOC you receive a certificate of completion from the University, and have the opportunity to purchase a digital badge to add to your resume and online professional profiles.

Precollege Programs

Precollege opens the University of Miami community up to high school students and future ‘Canes. With enriching summer learning programs, Precollege strengthens the next generation of students by building confidence and expanding academic horizons. Your high school student can choose from the Summer Scholars Program, UM Academies, or a remote learning program.

The Summer Scholars Program is a three-week summer program hosted on campus for high school sophomores and juniors. Participants earn six college credits, take classes from University of Miami professors in 20+ academic tracks, and build friendships with students from around the world while living on campus and experiencing a taste of college life. Alumni dependents receive a $500 tuition waiver. The final application deadline is May 1, 2022.

UM Academies are also held on campus for two weeks and are open to high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. These experiential learning programs are not eligible for college credit but focus on immersive, hands-on learning. The alumni tuition waiver does not apply to UM Academies.
