Pilar Gutierrez, M.D. ’90 shares her vision for the Medical Alumni Association

With a focus on mentoring and scholarship initiatives, Dr. Gutierrez aims to establish and enhance a mutually beneficial relationship between the faculty, alumni and students. She hopes to provide this legacy to current medical students and future physicians.

After receiving her bachelor of science degree in 1984 and medical degree from the University of Miami, Dr. Gutierrez has dedicated the last 26 years of her life to the pediatric infectious disease specialty at Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital. She credits her success to her time at the Miller School of Medicine for expanding her understanding of infectious diseases and providing access to exceptional physicians. As president of the Medical Alumni Association, she plays a lead role in engaging the school’s vast alumni community.
