Are you ready for some Hurricane football?

August is here, and that means it’s almost time for football! The Hurricanes kick off the 2025 season on August 31 at Hard Rock Stadium against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. You can cheer on the team in the company of fellow alumni and friends at game watch parties hosted by Canes Communities around the country. Miami Canes: ‘The Academy’ Book Event

The University of Miami Alumni Association, in partnership with the Miami Canes and Books & Books, presents an evening with No.1 bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand and her daughter, current UM student, Shelby Cunningham, in celebration of their new book, “The Academy.”  This dishy, page-turning novel follows an intertwined cast of characters over the course of one drama-filled year at a New England boarding school. Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the book upon arrival at the event.

Climate Resilience Institute and Alumni Happy Hour in New York

Join the Climate Resilience Institute and University of Miami faculty at Idealist.org during NY Climate Week for an exclusive evening of conversation about how the University is advancing resilience innovation and research across disciplines. Hear from the new dean of the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science, and leading faculty experts from the College of Engineering, Department of Geography in the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Miller School of Medicine. Light bites and drinks will be served.  The event will begin at Idealist.org headquarters and networking will continue after 7:30 p.m. at Clinton Hall on 36 Street. Space is limited. RSVP required.

Alumni engagement team honored at national level by professional peers

 

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) recently bestowed on the University’s alumni engagement team a Circle of Excellence silver award for its regional volunteer engagement initiatives. The team was recognized as an advancement leader out of 4,400 entries from 640 institutions worldwide. In addition, Erica Arroyo, B.S.C. ’03, M.A.L.S. ’08, associate vice president for engagement, was named a CASE laureate for her service to CASE and for her dedication to advancing education to transform lives and society.
