Fall is here, which means Alumni Weekend and Homecoming is around the corner! Join us on October 24, 25, and 26, when alumni, parents, fans, and friends of the U gather from near and far to celebrate all that it means to be a Miami Hurricane. And whether this is your first Homecoming as an alum, or your 50th, it’s always the best party of the year.
Hundreds of alumni and friends of the U celebrated opening day of the 2024 football season at a pre-game tailgate in Gainesville, along with University leaders, the Band of the Hour, Sebastian, and the ’Canes cheerleaders. Hundreds more gathered in a dozen ’Canes Communities from coast to coast to cheer on their alma mater against their old rival, the University of Florida.
Enjoy this recap of the opening day tailgate and the football team’s exploits over the past few weeks. And if all that wasn’t enough, this month, we are throwing it back to 1938, the first time Miami and Florida met on the gridiron—and the first time the U beat the Gators!
Inspired by a Congolese Nobel laureate, Milain Fayulu, B.A. ’15, channels his skills into helping his country heal from the devastation of armed conflict.
Do you know a young alum doing great things and making an impact professionally and in the community? Let us know—you can even nominate yourself! The nomination deadline is 11:59 p.m. (ET) on November 3, 2024.

Join us at the Cosford Cinema for the premiere of “St. Vierja Academy,” written and directed by José Antonio Stoute, M.D. ’85, M.F.A. ’23. This compelling independent film is set in 1970s Panama, and follows a teenager named Toño who navigates the intense demands of an exclusive school. The story begins with Toño as a practicing physician in the U.S. He receives a call about the death of an old friend in Panama, prompting him to revisit the pivotal moments of his past.
The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Dr. Stoute. Admission is free but advance registration is required.
