Cane Kickoff 2026 saw more than 3,200 first-year and transfer students from across the country and around the world begin their journey at the University of Miami, connecting with new classmates, exploring campus and immersing themselves in the vibrant traditions of the U. Among this year’s highlights was the opening of Biscayne, Grove and Vista Residential Colleges in Centennial Village, the latest chapter in the University’s multiyear plan to modernize and reimagine campus housing.
The University of Miami Alumni Association’s 30 Under 30 program honors outstanding young alumni who are making an impact. Whether pursuing graduate or professional education, serving their communities, mentoring others, or advocating for those in need, this year’s honorees truly exemplify what it means to be a Cane. They will be celebrated at a special ceremony during Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.
UHealth’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its strongest performance to date in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals rankings. Bascom Palmer Eye Institute remains the nation’s No. 1 ophthalmology program for the 25th year, while Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is the No. 1 cancer program in Florida. UHealth also earned national rankings in five specialties and recognition in 17 high-performing procedures and conditions, further establishing its place among the nation’s leading academic health systems.

Are you ready for some football?
It’s almost September—and that means it’s almost time for football! The Hurricanes kick off the 2026 season on September 4 in Palo Alto, California, against the Stanford Cardinal, and launch their home schedule on September 10 at Hard Rock Stadium against the Florida A&M Rattlers.
Alumni who graduated in 2020 or later are eligible for a special young alumni discount on Hurricane Club membership. For alumni and friends of all ages, there are special VIP experiences available for Family Weekend, Rivalry Weekend, Alumni Weekend and Homecoming, and more.
You also can cheer on the team in the company of fellow alumni and friends at game watch parties hosted by Canes Communities around the country. Gather up your orange and green gear and get ready to have some fun. Go Canes!
