november 2024

message from the dean

With less than a month left in the Fall 2024 semester, I would like to highlight the culmination of our Distinguished Seminar Series—a platform for meaningful conversations at the College of Engineering.

We had the privilege of hosting three esteemed speakers whose work is shaping the future of engineering and aligns with the college's initiatives:

  • Chandra Venkataraman from the Indian Institute of Technology shared her extensive research on air quality. Her insights into aerosol science and the impacts of pollution provided alternative sustainable solutions to global environmental challenges.
  • James Kenyon from NASA, an expert in aerospace technology, captivated the audience with his work on advanced propulsion systems and the future of space exploration. His seminar highlighted NASA's ongoing efforts to develop technologies that make space travel more efficient.
  • Enver Yucesan from INSEAD brought an innovative perspective to supply chain management and data analytics. His presentation emphasized the role of interdisciplinary engineering solutions in optimizing complex global supply chains.
These distinguished speakers motivated our faculty and students to pursue research that addresses critical global issues.

Looking ahead, I am pleased to announce that our commitment to fostering important conversations will continue at the second annual Rothberg Catalyzer AI Summit of the Americas, scheduled for February 25, 2025. More information will be posted here in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,

Pratim Biswas

Dean, College of Engineering
