University of Miami

December 2024

message from the dean

As we bring 2024 to a close, I am filled with pride and gratitude for the incredible accomplishments of our students, faculty, and alumni. This season is a time for celebration and reflection, and there is much to acknowledge in our College of Engineering community.

First, congratulations to our Fall 2024 graduates! Commencement is a momentous occasion that symbolizes the culmination of years of hard work. To our graduates: your achievements inspire us all. We are excited to see the positive impact you will make as engineers. You will always have a home at the University of Miami.

We also approach a bittersweet moment as we bid farewell to Ram Narasimhan, assistant dean of engineering advising and undergraduate studies. Dr. Ram's retirement comes after an extraordinary career devoted to the success of our students and the advancement of engineering education. His leadership in overseeing the college's advising system, his commitment to teaching, and his impactful research on energy and the environment, have left an indelible mark. Dr. Ram, we thank you for your years of service and wish you all the best in your well-earned retirement.

Looking forward, we will kick off 2025 energized and focused. Our collective efforts are driving innovation and making an impact locally and globally. Here's to a restful holiday season and an exciting new year ahead.

Sincerely,

Pratim Biswas
