Honoring a Legacy with Gratitude

Philanthropy often tells a story of gratitude across generations—a commitment to seeing the memory of loved ones make a difference in the world. This is the story of donors like Julie and Sir Martin Franklin, who amplified the impactful legacy of her father by making a $3.75 million gift to create the Dr. Ronald B. Hinds Department of Medicine Endowed Chair. The chair celebrates Ronald's love for the Miller School and his dedication to medicine, and will preserve his memory for generations to come.

WHY I GIVE

“I wanted to do something to honor my father, and it feels right to pay tribute to him and his memory at the University of Miami. My father loved Miami and the University and, to me and my husband Martin, the two are tied together like the roots of a tree from which all the branches grow.”
