Medical Alumni Awards
Jeffrey Jacobs, M.D. '88, was recognized as the 31st member of the Medical Alumni Association Hall of Fame thanks to his contributions to cardiology and his humanitarian efforts.

Donors and Scholars Luncheon
Medical students thanked the alumni and donors who fund scholarships that support their dreams as future physicians and health care leaders.

Honor for an Alumnus
Barry Issenberg, M.D. '95, director of the Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education, was named the 2024-2025 president of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

David Frankel, M.D. ’76 |

We mourn the passing of David Frankel, M.D. ’76, renowned dermatologist, philanthropist and visionary businessman. After completing his residency in dermatology at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System in 1980, he embarked on a journey of entrepreneurship, establishing his own successful practice. Dr. Frankel was a shining example of what it means to embody the values of excellence and generosity. He supported numerous programs at the University of Miami, leaving an indelible mark on our community. Dr. Frankel’s unwavering commitment to advancing education and research led to the naming of the Frankel Family Division of Melanocytic Tumors. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Frankel dedicated himself to giving back to the University and nurturing the next generations of dermatological surgeons. His selfless service as a voluntary faculty played an instrumental role in shaping the future of dermatology. His contributions will continue to inspire and benefit generations to come.
