This month, we salute everyone, from all walks of life, on and off the field, who dedicate time and resources to advocate for excellence in health care. On the field, renowned gastroenterologist Maria Abreu, M.D. ’90, pictured above standing next to Marlins first base coach Jon Jay, threw the first pitch at the Miami Marlins game to call attention to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and the need for additional research into the debilitating disease, which affects two million people nationwide.
